A Pacific Gopher in Late October

Not one of my fav snakes, but definitely a highlight of any day (for me)!

When he was found, he was in blue-eye but I didn't have a camera, he was brought into our rescue "facility." I didn't want to release him in this cold weather, so we'll observe how he does and hibernate him in the winter.

Anyway, here he is...

It was found in a family's garage, they don't know any better and they were going to kill it.

I couldn't release it at the time during 50* weather, so I brought to my "facility" which is basically my house garage where I keep snakes that either 1.) cannot be release or 2.) are part of my personal collection.

First of all, it is none of your business what I do and secondly, I do not answer to you for explanations. If you have a problem with this "rescue" and what I did as a herp enthusiast there's nothing I can do about your personal issues.

I quarantine all animals that are brought in from outside or even delivered as a purchase.

And as for "aybe.sea," I don't know where you are located as it may be illegal in your area but I can assure you of nothing illegal. I try to keep up-to-date on the ever-changing laws and regulations of F&G, but if the reptile is found within city limits and in a home, it's all fair game so it is either killed by ignorance, or rescued by people like me who are able to relocate them and provide them a second chance in their natural habitat.

I'm in Norcal and up until about 10 days ago, was seeing catenifers all over the place - in both Marin and Contra Costa Counties.

Most appeared to be nice and chunky and looked to be soaking up the last few seasonably warm days to digest their pre-winter meals and hydrate up.

How far from the capture site do you plan on releasing him?
