Help! New Ball has Funky Belly!

Got a new albino ball off craigslist and she has really inflamed/puffy belly scales about halfway down her body, they stop a couple inches above her vent. She was kept in a glass tank with an under tank heat pad if that helps any. I think this link will take you to the picture...

Might be internal parasites, take it to a vetenarian to get a fecal done to check

Take it to a vet I'd say, i'm not sure what it is from the pics but it looks to be some sort of abcess.

Yea normally I wouldn't take her but this lady just wants someone to take her off her hands; doesn't have money to take her to the vet so its an 08 female albino ball for the cost of vet fees if I can save the poor thing.

do you think its a burn or infection/skin disorder?

i have an idea of treatment, but the vet may be a better option.

Whatever it is it looks like its full of fluid so it could be a result of a burn. I wouldnt pop it before having someone look at it though.

It does look like a burn to me, however, I'm not a vet. I've had a snake that burned his belly, though, and it will definitely require a vet's assistance. Mine had to have his belly scraped, then rinsed with saline and silver sulfinadine (sp?) cream applied. I also had to soak him once/day for 30 minutes, rinse with saline, and apply the cream for about two weeks. Also had an additional daily saline rinse/cream application (without soaking). So if it is indeed a burn, it is going to take some time on your part for the next couple of weeks. But I really want to stress the importance of taking your snake to a qualified vet--when I called mine when I first saw the problem, he hurried into his office on a Sunday to take a look at him, so apparently it was fairly important that it be taken care of quickly.

Best of luck! If it is a burn, and it's properly treated, it should heal up nicely. There may be some minor scarring, but otherwise the snake should recover fully.
