    What stage is she in??

Mona (normal) and Toby (pastel) have been hooking up since September 1st, and I've witnessed at least 7 good locks. She ate a small rat on Monday, and just defecated 10 days ago - but when I pulled her out tonight, she looked SOOO fat and swollen! I tried to palpate for follicles, but honestly couldn't tell what was what. So if you take a look at her iHerp records, and the pictures below, could you guess where she's at in the breeding cycle? I haven't noticed any true signs of ovulation, like water bowl hugging or laying inverted... but she really does look huge, and has put on nearly 200g in 2 weeks. Any thoughts?

Here's her iHerp: http://www.iherp.com/HerpTrack/Track...AnimalID=25982 (fyi - her weight from today was probably a bit low, since she couldn't fit in the bowl )

And a few pictures from earlier tonight...

P.S. I'll try to get some full-body & "belly shots" when I have someone around to help... she's simply too big for me to take photos while holding her. Oh, and I just threw Toby back in her tub, in case she is building follicles.

Oops - I meant to say (in my first post) that I hadn't seen any signs of follicle development... not ovulation.

Those pics don't really tell much. When she's ovulating, you'll know. This is a great page on what to look for: http://www.ballpython.ca/gallery/breeding.html

I don't think she's close to ovulating just from what I can see. A dark snake like her - you should notice a very definite "glow" before she ovulates. Here's an example for you.

Believe it or not - same snake:

    Normal coloration:

    Glow:

    Ovulation:

Wowzers! Thanks for the "glow" pictures! The "glow" pictures I've seen up until now didn't really look all that different. Now I know what to look for!

Here is an ovulation. You can also see this normal girl looks light like a fire when she is glowing. This means eggs are on the way
