Spider BPs and genetic / neuroligical problems?

There is a heritable neurologic problem in spiders. I suggest you handle an older spider that "wobbles" or "corkscrews" and see how you feel about it before buying one. Seems to not bother some people, but I think it's good to know what you may be in store for.

I have an '08 male spider. I bought him when he was approximately 2 months old, and he showed a very slight wobble. While being handled, he would turn his head upside-down, immediately realize it, and right himself. By 6 months of age, he had completely grown out of it. He's now about 15 months old, and I still haven't noticed anything else. He does seem to be a bit more active than my other ball pythons, but he does not "wobble" anymore. Hopefully he won't as he ages either; I'm crossing my fingers that whatever slight condition he had with it was outgrown and is never to return.

Holding a full grown corkscrewing female is a trip, very much not to my liking, and I hope my male doesn't do it.
1 year old and no wobbles, so who knows.
I am however prepared to relegate him to pet status if he ever shows any signs.

I have a gorgeous 1500 gram bee that corks but it's not a big deal to me. To each his own i guess.

its not only in spiders some other morph also show a wobble its just less common

It is my understanding that it mainly shows up in Spiders and Spider combinations.

I've heard this subject endlessly debated here, and while I do appreciate the difficulties it can present, it doesn't make me want a bumblebee ball any less. I agree you should try to contact someone near you who owns one that wobbles, and see if you can arrange to see the snake in person and decide if you can handle the "defect" or not.
