Where to start?

I'm at a stand still folks...I have a pied male(500grams) an albino female(1400+grams) a het albino male(1000grams) and a het albino female(1300+grams). Next year will be my first year I have ever really tried anything serious with balls. I have done a fair amount of research and most of what I have found was saying not to pair my "prize" animals until I had a little more experience only because I could damage/lose a female. My main goal was to produce some double het albino/pieds but after some reading I'm not to sure what to do. I'm wondering what everyone would suggest and which of the 2 pairings they would try out first. Those are my only 2 options my lessers are both 09's lol.

Honestly, i'd hold off on the Pied male and focus on your bigger snakes like your het Albinos. I know a lot of people like to breed their males early, but personally i would wait and not stress it. It might be a good idea to breed your albino female to your Het albino male and get a half and half clutch. Yeah getting your albino pied's is going to be a long run, but its always worth it in the end. Heck i'm going for the Albino Spider and i just have 2 snakes under 200 grams, so your alot closer to your goal than i am.

Well if I were you and you realy want double hets...

I would pair the pied and the albino like you wanted and go ahead an pair the hets together, either way chances are you will get at least one Albino. But since you already have an albino and 2 hets, isnt getting double hets more important to you?

Steveboos:The plan was to start pairing them up next year so they would really not start breeding till spring sometime. the pied male may be able to put on some weight by then, that's what I was counting on. It will be a long road but by the time I raise the babies up my lesser's should be able to go.

Danounet:I would LOVE some double hets. I can make albinos anytime because I have the het male, het female and albino female. The double hets would be something new to try and work with. By the time I got the double hets ready to go I would be able to add some lesser's in the mix.

I don't want to push my male to go to early but assuming he is around 600+grams would he be ok to go or should I wait and hold off till he is around the size of my other male?

Some will do the deed at 500 grams, my black pastel did at 575 last year with no problems.

I'd go for double hets to get that project started, then go for more albinos next year.

I think he should be ok, if you place them together, he will either be up for it or not... Is not like you are going to force him. Let mother nature run its course

My early 09 Lemon Pastel male wants to do the "deed" at 500g, but I dont have an adult female for him to do it. Poor little guy

Why would you lose a female?

From reading and talking a a few area breeders they felt because of her age there could be a larger chance of egg binding...I'm new to breeding balls I have breed others kinds of snakes in the past but not consistently. Just taking a little precaution.

I really would like to get the project started, albinos are great in their own right but I think I could wait a year or so to produce my own. Something about getting a step closer to an albino pied put a smile on my face lol. The albino female shed the other day so I went in to clean her out and the pied male went nuts when I pulled her skin out. His cage is right over hers. That's the reason I ask because he seems like he's ready to do the deed. I'm more then willing to let him.

Breed your albino het male to both females and buy a het pied female to grow up and breed to your male.

I have a pied male already? I'm curious as to why you suggest that? I plan on breeding the pied male to my lesser female when she is of age as well, and maybe trying out my lesser male on one of the ladies down the road.
