I'll try to get that picture later, and will post it here. I would like to breed her, if she is in fact a HER... since I already have a male Aztec Reverse Okeetee & will soon be getting a male ghost. So it would help to know the gender, LOL.

Cool, thanks... I'll leave her in the 28qt for now!
No males should not be able to lay eggs at all .Sometimes people make up things to make the sale.Since you allready have a confirmed male you should be able to see if this new one is a girl or not.If you look at your male his area will taper further from the vent.If this new one tapers closer to the vent she should be a she .

LOL... I didn't think males laid eggs! And I doubt he made that up, since he basically sold it for 1/4 of its worth - and even offered (today) to throw in a free glass tank, which he found after I left. They were just not snake people, and come to think of it, I was the one who asked about gender... his answer was "I think it's a girl, since we found eggs in her tank last year." Anyway, thanks for the replies/advice, and I'll still attempt to get a tail-shot for y'all.

Pretty snakes - and quite a difference in coloring! I pictured Amels looking more like your second photo, with a red/pink and white hue... so I was just surprised when I saw this girl with her orange flames. What do you think she'll produce with Scout? Here he is (still a baby):

LOL... ya never know! I am planning to breed her with Scout eventually, and according to the "genetic calculator" (online) that would yield 100% Amels. Correct? But if one is an Aztec reverse Okeetee and the other is a regular Amel, what will that create with their patterns - some who look like mom & some who look like dad, or will it make something new? And speaking of breeding corns, how big do the males have to be? TIA!

    Re: New Amel Girl!

Btw, I fed her last night, and she devoured two live adult mice... and I think she's still hungry, because later she tried striking at my finger when I put it near the tub. I assume that was a feeding response, since she tracked it first & did a semi-coil after the attempted strike. Do you think her previous owners under-fed her, or was she just really excited about the meal? They said she was getting one mouse weekly, but it could have been hoppers for all I know.

She was still in feeding mode. I wouldn't feed her more then 1 mouse a week. You don't want her to get overweight.
