Rock Python housing... what's the adequate size?

I've been looking into rock python housing, and cant seem to find anything that really gives a nice general size...

I've seen buld plans for plywood/plexiglass enclosures ranging from 8'x4'x4', to 6'x4'x4', to 6x3'x3', to 5'x3'x3', right down to 5'x3'x2, even some recommended in the 4'x3'x3'.

And then theres some out there that say just a jumbo sized, extra long and wide sterilite box will be sufficient (though i have no idea how to secure a sterilite box from a rock python busting out of it).

Thing is, I'm picking up a not so ill-tempered 7' rock python, and want to know what the realistic cage size should be. I know temps should range from 83 to 92 degrees, with a idle side of 79.

    any ideas folks?

You'll NEVER get a full grown AFROCK in ANY tub.

Brian of BHB uses 6 foot wide cages, but has said he's upgrading to the 8 foot ones.

I'd say 8 foot by 3 by 2 foot or more would suffice.

Yeah, trust me, when i saw the suggestion on tubs, i sort of was in a bit of disbelief... I was like "no way...". Trying to find one that big, and then trying to secure it, i would think impossible.

So, you saying 8x3x2, Apparently width is less relevant than length, correct? I mean, obviously some width is needed, but more length than anything, correct?

I have some ball pythons in tubs, and I have a savannah monitor in a 6x4x4 cage, but then again, monitors need the width and alot of room to prowl around.

I'm just trying to get something secure, with adequate space, and that can fit through most doors

monitors move around alot more then snakes do and they need huge cages. I keep most of my big guys in 6 foot enclosures and when we move to the shop out back im getting my females 8 foot cages. There is not a tub large enough for an adult rock. And I was looking into purchasing some of those freedom breeder racks that brian has becuase they look fairly easy to clean and maintain. BUt I dont feel they are secure enough for large constrictors and I keep mine in the same home I keep my children in so security is a big deal here. Ive heard two occasions where one snake pushed the tub out of the rack and another one where they had the 8 foot fb rack and the snake actaully broke the back panel off the cage and escaped.

So even though these are for burmese... these plans should work alright for a rock?

    http://www.albinoburmese.com/cageplans.htm

I was going to make a 7'x3'x3' version of one of those...

My only worries is, they are extremely strong... every corner of the enclosure would need to be reinforced, even the plexiglass....

but think that would be adequate enough?
