pet to breeder?
any breeders keep any of your snakes as pets (in an aquaruim in your house) and move them into your breeding rooms for breeding season? i would assume most would just always keep them in there racks all the time. can anybody share some experience's?

Re: pet to breeder?
My first ball python was kept in a tank, and he didn't do well in the tank. He was moved to a tub, and has resided there ever since. As a normal male, he's not a breeder, and is truly a pet. My tanks now house rodents.

I started out with a somewhat reduced pattern female, she is definetly more beautiful than normal BPs at pet stores. As most people I bought a 10g tank and a bunch of stuff I didnt need. As I learned more about BPs from this forums, I moved her to a 28qt tub, after that I adquired the other BPs.
Even though she is just a pretty normal, she has the personality that I like the most out of all my BPs and the strongest feeding response. I bought hemostats (feeding tongs) because of her lol...
I plan to breed her, but she is only about 10 months old at the most and breaking 700g, so I guess next year . My choises to breed her will be a Lemon Pastel or a VPI Axanthic. So Im not sure which one yet.

Re: pet to breeder?
It's so much easier to keep snakes in tubs I wouldn't want the hassle of moving them around. The only snake I have in an aquarium is a 15 year old kingsnake.... but he is in the "snake-room" too.

Re: pet to breeder?
I keep my crested geckos exactly as I would if they were 'just pets', even though I'm breeding them.
I realize they are CGs and not BPs, but I figured I'd throw that out there.
