    Enough with the Condensation!

I have 2 tubs for my new arrivals now and all temps are perfect. Hot side is always between 92 and 94 and the cold side is always around 84-86. Humidity is perfect at 55% and only vaires a little bit. I have 4 holes on each end and 10 holes on both long sides of each tub, but i still get a BUNCH of condensation. I have about 80% of the tub on the heating pad to give it a cool side, but i can't quite keep the water bowl all the way off the heating pad. I don't know where else to go, i just keep changing the lids and wiping the water off the sides.

I know this can be bad if left for too long, and i definitely don't want any skin infections. Can i re-adjust the tubs in a different way to minimize this? I just have them stand alone in my closet and i keep the door closed to stop any temperature fluctuations.

Once i get this problem fixed and my Ranco Thermostat and Temperature Gun come in today, i will not have any more problems!

Could you try moving the tub a little more off the heating pad? I have a rack system and I have a major problem with condensation. I usually have to go in there once a day to wipe condensation off the tubs (they think its funny to tip over their water bowls. ) You could also use a smaller water dish.

See when i move them off the heating pad though, the cold side drops to around 76 or so and thats just way too cold. I am kindof at a loss right now, but i know its fairly common in tubs to have condensation.

    Re: Enough with the Condensation!

Its caused cause the air out side is cooling the side of the tub down and the humid air inside is forming water.

Drill you a couple more holes and see how that works.

You could always heat up the room that they're in a little more. That way the temps inside the tub and outside the tub won't be as extreme and the water vapor inside won't be as likely to condense.

Lets see theres about 15 holes in each lid, 10 holes on each side of the tub, and condensation is pretty bad still. The close they are in is around 80 degrees, so with the tubs being around 92, i wouldn't think thats that big of a difference.

Drill alot of holes in the front and back of the tub. Drill the ones in the front a little lower than the ones in the back. It will create a small air flow. My tubs have about 100 holes in the front and 100 in the back. You just need ALOT more holes. Dont worry about the sides.
