I like him, he could be lighter but then again I like everything lighter. Lessers can be hard to photograph. Pictures sometimes don't show the yellows and cream colors well when contrasted with the darker bronze and copper colors.

Sigh...I really don't like these threads because a) it shouldn't matter what anyone else thinks about your animals, as long as YOU like them and b) you open yourself up to hurt feelings.
With that said - is that a lesser that "I'd" add to my collection? Probably not - because it's not completely reduced pattern and it's darker than what I'd choose for myself. So, based on what "I'd" want in a lesser, I'd rate it average.
As shown by the votes, he DOES fit the bill for others and therefore, they ranked him higher.

Re: rate the snake: male lesser
Yes, I think I'm responsible for starting all this--I was curious to see what others thought of the quality of some of my animals, and especially curious about their reasoning as to why, which many folks volunteer. I am immune to hurt feelings if someone says one of them is ugly.
I agree, folks should consider carefully whether they want an honest opinion, before doing an anonymous poll like this. Of course, there are always going to be some people who will vote 1 on everything they see just to be annoying, or because they 'don't like ball pythons', but that's easy to ignore.
I think the opinions of others DO matter in the long run, if you're considering breeding--there is a learning curve as to what people prefer in each morph. Unless you are breeding soley for yourself, you're planning to sell the animals--understanding what people want will help you breed animals that people will pay more for.
If you didn't think this hobby was a competition, you haven't been paying attention to the price tags at the shows. But of course, what one individual thinks is gorgeous someone else may not like at all.
I don't think there would be anything wrong if some reptile shows in the future were actual shows--with ribbons and all. Why not? Isn't that part of the fun in the hobby?

i agree 100%
i think "reptile shows" would be awesome. there would be sooo many categorys though. they could do something like that at daytona or another BIG show. i think it would be great and profitable to who ever would host something like that.

I disagree with that Robin, I don't think it would necessarily lead to hurt feelings. I always assume that the poster just wants an honest answer. Beauty has always been, and always will be in the eyes of the beholder and it really doesn't matter what others think. Frankly if I posted an animal from my collection and some people told me they thought it was ugly as mud it wouldn't phase me in the least, if I agreed with them it wouldn't be in my collection in the first place but it is instructive to hear other peoples opinions.
I've quite frankly been surprised by others opinions several times in the past. There is an active poll on this forum right now that has surprised me as to peoples preferences in cinnamons. I never would have guessed that more people prefer dark cinnamons over light cinnamons. It's given me enough pause to take a second look and I have to admit that there are some darker cinnamons that are quite pleasing to the eye, something I probably wouldn't have previously noticed because at first glance they were too dark for my tastes.
There are actually a number of morphs that I never particularly liked because I just couldn't see the beauty in them. Morphs like Axanthics or Enchis or Sables or Womas or Spotnoses, but seeing other peoples opinions has caused me to take a second look and to modify my initial opinion. I recently picked up one of these and couldn't be happier with it. Others I hope to pick up in the future because I can now see more possibilities that I didn't see before. And it's threads like this that cause people to take a second look. Not just for the original poster, but for everyone else who reads them too.
