For the past 3 years I have kept my breeding rats and the snakes in the same room. I have never noticed any adverse effects of this arrangement.
However for the last 4 months the rats have been at a different location and get brought in once a week. I have noticed that since the move my snakes have a stronger, more aggressive feeding response due to my ability to pre-scent the room. 99.995% of every snake I have is at the front of their tub cocked and ready to go. with in hours of the rats being put in the room.
I have a feeling that like with handling the ever present scent of food caused them to be less enthusiastic when it comes to feeding day. Now all of my snakes at great with the rats in the room don't get me wrong.. but now I can feed 100+ snakes in under 30 minutes cause they are taking them right out of the air with no waiting at all.
Any way just something I thought would be interesting for everyone..
