I don't provide any permanent chew toys any more. I just use pine that has enough chunky pieces to chew on. Of course my motto is "Keep it simple stupid"

don't the rib and chicken bones add to the smell?

surprisingly not much. A lot of the time they vanish without a trace.

We save our toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls and let them chew them up.

yeah, I just started putting those in and they seems to like 'em . I think they prefer chewing up cardboard better than the chunks of wood I put in.

Re: What do you give your ASF's to chew on?

I made the mistake of tossing a frito in one of the ASF tanks. It was all holy hell in there! I couldnt get the frito out without risking life and limb so to put a stop to the war that had broken out and avoid a rat massacre, I had to add enough pieces of frito so each rat could have one.

Thats one treat they wont get again LOL

As for chew toys. They have wood, those brown hamster chew caves you get at walmart, little colored wood sticks and each tank has a large wheel that they never stop running on.
