    Re: Is he big enough???????

i think at that size he might not show any interest ... i would wait ... from what i have seen a female should be atleast 1200-1500 grams for proper breeding and males can breed from 1000+ grams .. so your female is ok but the male is in question .. i would hold off

    Is he producing sperm plugs?

Some males will breed very young however caution and close monitoring is highly recommended.

My breeders usually breed around 600/700 grams, I never had younger males showing interest.

    Re: Is he big enough???????

from what i've learned so far its better to have the female over 1500g and the male should be over 600g and to physically see him producing sperm plugs is always a good sign..

    Re: Is he big enough???????

I would try breeding him, we had a 370 gram male Bee breed and sire a clutch last season. Just make sure he eats through out the season. If he stops eating I wouldnt breed him.
    Hope this helps.

    Re: Is he big enough???????

I would feed him up really well for the next month, and see if you can get some extra weight on him. After that, well, it's worth a try--if he's not ready to breed, he probably won't go off feed. My smaller males tend to continue eating, though, although at a somewhat reduced rate, when they're breeding--at least until early spring.

With only one female, it's unlikely to do him any harm to try.
