big enclosure question
How often do you guys change out all the dirt in your bigger monitor cages? I'm only asking because my guys are still only in 4ft cages, so changing their dirt is a pain but manageable, I'm just thinking about when my niles going up to his 10ft cage that could be a bit of a pain and was wondering how you guys do it.

Re: big enclosure question
99% of my Ornate's fecal deposits are done in the water, so cleaning the tub/pool/pond is a daily affair, with spot cleaning done if he goes somewhere else.
Let's see some pics of your Nile!

Re: big enclosure question
As soon as I get ahold of a new digital camera I will be glad to post up some pics of my nile. My rebel xti fell off the top of my crested cages onto a tile floor, so its not very functional at the moment.
But I definitely will get some pics of him, he needs to be shown off. Lets hope he's in a good mood when I try lol

Re: big enclosure question
I spot clean as needed. I also 'mix up' the soil once two months or so.
No point in changing out all the soil.

Agree, I'd just spot clean and then mix the soil every few months.

That sucks about your Canon.
How old/big is your Nile? I imagine pretty small since it's in a 4 footer. Mine outgrew that size enclosure in a matter of months...

Re: big enclosure question
Not sure exactly how old, but he is still really small. I got him about 3 weeks ago and he was 7 inches from his nose to the base of his tale and now he's a little over 8inches
