Hey guys,

I have been reading threads about different tips and tricks about keeping humidity at correct levels. I am a little bit obsessive and a worrier whether I am doing things right. My temps are correct and my humidity is good most of the time. I have to mist the hell out of the tank though. Penny has had one shed since being with me and it was not a very good one which tells me I need to up the humidity when she is going in to shed. I was thinking about an automatic mister but have been reading about the Tropic Air Humidifier & air exchange. My question for those who use it is, do you have it run all the time or is it set on a timer?? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh, and here is a brief description of her enclosure.

I have her in a wooden enclosure painted white inside. It has a double mesh top with the top most layer being a bigger mesh and a Plexiglas front. Also, I just added plexi to cover a majority of the top. I was using a damp towel but was afraid of the bacteria. I use reptibark substrate. There are two identical hides for both sides. I have a large driftwood log running the length with the high part on the hot side There is a water bowl on the hot side. I have greenery along the back wall. Hidden in the greenery are two knee highs stuffed with moss that I mist down to help the humidity. I have a thermo/humidity reader (Digital) on both sides. I have a heat lamp on the hot side. I know this sucks moisture but I have read that the under tank heating pads are not to be used in wooden enclosures. The hot side stays around 88 but if I put the thermometer on the high branch where Penny likes to perch it is about 91. The cool side is about 84. Now, the humidity reads different on the hot and cool side. why wouldn't it be the same humidity throughout?? The hot side is around 50% and the cool side is around 60%.

Sorry for the rambling. This is my first ball and I want her to be healthy and happy! I will post pics of my set up when I get home from work.

Thanks,
Cris
