Feeding/breeding question
Ok, so I have a 1900 gram female ball that has been a great feeder since I got her. I fed her on October 3rd before I went on vacation, and since I got back she hasn't shown any interest in eating. I switched her to f/t shortly before I left, and she didn't have any hesitation to eat. It's been a little over a month now, and she still isn't showing much interest in eating. I am wondering if she just doesn't want the f/t or if maybe it's something else. I have her in a rack with a young male who is about breeding age, and I am wondering if maybe she is going off feed because she wants to breed. Does anyone have ideas or input? Thanks

Re: Feeding/breeding question
possibly, my balls are ALL of feed now. i lowered the temp in the room btw. it might be the season, but ball pythons are notorious about going off feed. hope this helps!

If you've paired her up, it's quite possible that's she just in breeding mode. If you want to try proving that theory, maybe pick up a live feeder and try offering it. It may just turn out that she prefers those.
EDIT: If she wasn't eating these already, trying offering her a live ASF. They can almost never resist those.
Good luck!

This is a good sign that she wants to breed.

Re: Feeding/breeding question
Thanks for the input. I still have to keep her quarantined from the male I want to breed her with for a little longer, but she has been in a rack with my albino male that I am not planning to breed this year. I am going to try a live rat later this week and see if that does the trick. I wasn't planning on pairing until Dec 1st.

Re: Feeding/breeding question
Well if this helps, I come to find out that my pastel off-feed is not completely off feed. He has taken ONE 25g Mouse (is that an adult mice??) every 2 weeks. But still refuses anything more after that. This has happen 2 times now. I just hope he doesnt become a mouser after this ordeal...
I think he is so young and still growing that he gets realy hungry from being off-feed that he will take a small meal now and then. Im just happy he is eating something, even if it is small and not very often.
