Some people do say(the majority of folks with experiance breeding that I've talked to) that in order to breed the tegus, you must let them hibernate.
I don't think I've seen anyone not allow the tegus to hibernate and breed them successfully. All the people I know of that have bred and got eggs, hibernated. It's not definitive proof, but it's all I got for ya.
I hibernated mine, and got a great clutch of eggs. One day I'll get antoher red male to breed more, cause you gotta love tegus!
