Hopefully this is a lot better now
Well my first attempt in setting up my 1st BP tank was to put it midly a joke. I just assumed it would be like setting up a tank for a corn or a king but obviously I WAS GREATLY MISTAKEN. So with all the great advice that I have received here is what I set up for Autumn my 09 Pastel ( who still isn't eating but I'm sure she wil soon.)
The hot side is a constant 90 degrees and the cool side is a lovely 80 degrees and the humidity is 60%. I have 2 sides one on the cool side(left side) and one on the right side(hidden by the fake plants. So far Autum has picked the spot on top of the hide on the cool spot where there is a small gap between the rock(on top of the hide) and the back of the tank.
So is this what my BP wil love now??? and hopefully this will solve teh feeding problem

I'm not so sure of that clear hide. Normally they like something dark.

Re: Hopefully this is a lot better now
I have a 20g tank, and here are pictures of my set up.

And here is how I cover it, I folded it back a little to show how much aluminum I have, I should put more but the towel and substrate are doing a fair job.

So as you can see, there's not alot in there. Two plastic dark hides, one water bowl, and one string of fake leaves to clutter it up. If you're going to continue using newspaper it will be much easier to clean than mine is.
Edit: The leaves I bought were from Big Lots, it's 6 ft long, came with two, and was $5. The hides I got from Orchard, and they were around $1-$2 a piece.

Re: Hopefully this is a lot better now
Looks pretty good to me. A darker hide would be nice. And I like to use that 1/4" thick foam poster board to cover the sides with. What you have is ok but the foam board acts to help insulate the tank. Keeps temps a little more stable and saves a few bucks on the electric bill too. Nice job!

Re: Hopefully this is a lot better now
It really doesn't look that bad though. I would just paint that hide black, and get another that looks like it on the same side. Maybe pull out the log, and that huge rock (is that a rock? What is it for?). It looks ok. The temps and humidity look good, and if she is hiding, she is happy. Hopefully she will eat soon. Good luck!

Re: Hopefully this is a lot better now
Here is a link to some photos of what I did to my 29 gallon tank a while back. What I did to the top helped alot with the temp and humidity control and was easy to adjust. Also, make sure you check the ends of your vines to make sure there are no built in hanging loops. Another forum members snake just got caught in one a few days ago. Hope this helps...

Re: Hopefully this is a lot better now
here is my two cents......get a dark hide and leave it! See what happens in couple of weeks. By the way...you only need 1 warm hide and 1 cool hide.
You do have a lot to keep clean however I have a lot in mine to clean. I just take everything out and clean away. I only have 2 so it is really no big deal and I love doing it.
I think you did a good job compared to what you had before and you can really see that you took advice.
I would worry about letting him get comfy....and to start eating!
