That is terrible. If I were you, not only would I take legal action I would (if he lived close enough) drive to his house and demand to see his current collection.

Take this to the BOI, right away. The faunaclassified boys don't mess around. They will help in any way they can (atleast in my opinion, and I like looking through the "Bad Guy" threads). Inform him that he wiill be reported there, to the authorities, and you'll be taking legal action.

If you do this, you have to make sure to follow through, cause he will more then likely call your bluff and you've got to be right there to bite him in the kiester if he does.

You can charge him up to 3500 in damages in a small claims court. (I think that amount varies from state to state... you'll have to look into it). Of those fees can be the cost of finding him, and the cost of your adult snake, including an average per month cost of housing such a snake.

You really can bring the hurt down on this guy, if you're willing to take the risk.

well its obvious he and his wife had you nor your snake in their best interest... so why not put it out there who they are.. where they are located and all other info you have about them? no point in blabbing on if your not going to take any further action IMO

That is horrible, as some one relatively new to the reptile scene I cant understand anyone not qt any animal. Its just not an acceptable answer especially if you are housing another persons animals.

I didn't say what I'm doing so don't assume what my actions will or will not be.

I don't make it a habit of claiming, "Oh yeah, court for sure!" if I'm not 100% sure that's what I'll be doing (and obviously I need to be at least 95% sure I'll win the case and it won't be a further waste of my money because I too would have to take off work and spend more money before I can even think about getting any back). And for the reason that I have held off on posting on the BOI, until I can find and scan my written contract I'm not going to make the post yet.

Surely they are just lying so they can keep the snake.

Ummm, ok but that doesnt explain why you wont say who it was. Some more detail im interested in knowing, and everyone else im sure.. Was this someone you actually knew or was it some you found online. You say you had a written contract but was it notarized? Also, you say you want to find and scan your contract but what does that have to do with the BOI & posting on it? If this guy refused to answer you for months & then had his wife contact you, they did it to get you off their case. Im sure they were tired of your persistance. Even if what they say is true (which I doubt) Had they been responsible & honest people, they would have comtacted you or answered your attempts right away. Not months later. To me this is a clear scam. Even if your snake DID die & they just dont want to replace it. In that case its pure neglegence. Either way.. Why would you want to protect these people by not saying who they are? Either here or on the BOI?

    I see you are a BP.net veteran

Then im sure you know that members here will not keep posting their condolences, concerns & advice if you dont give them something to go on. None of us wants to be the victim of such a thing.

If this has gone on for "months" as you say, he probably had a hypo female to breed your snake to. Yes the hets have fallen in price but actual hypo/ghost are still worth a decent amount depending on the combo. Aside from letting us know who these people are so no one else here gets scammed, you should watch & search the kingsnake.com & fauna classifieds for ghost/hypo listings. I wouldnt be surprised if you see babies before long from someone with the same name or fits the description of these people.

Re: Some Guy Killed My Snake

I wasn't sure on the rules of the forum for posting names like that, is the reason for no name. I didn't want to break them.

His name is Jamie Wilson, I've spoken to his wife on the phone a couple times, but I don't know her name.

Draigess, no, it wasn't notorized. And I want to scan it to post on the BOI so I can post all the available information I have. I've read through many topics on the BOI over the years and I know they like to have a lot of info on there. Just something I wrote up kind of fast. This was my first ever breeder loan/trade deal.
