Feeding problen now needs to be fixed

First off thanks to all the great advice in helping me with my bad shedding problem. Now I just need help in feeding my bp, its been 3 weeks and the temp on the warm side is mid 80's. I'm planning in getting a uth heater tomorrow to crank up the heat to the 90's. so far I have tried 3 times in feeding a warmed up hopper and each time its been a no go. I have contacted the breeder and he said that he has no troubles feeding his snakes and that I should try live. I'm not ready to go there yet but if I have to I guess I have to.

I have some that will only eat live mice.

Get a 15qt tub and a couple of small opaque bowls.

That tank looks like you just threw it together with no intention of putting a snake in it .

The hides are way to open and there isn't enough cover for the snake. The little one is just stressed out.

Okay, FIRST of all, you are going to want some hides that are SHORT, and that she can barely squeeze into that have one entrance and exit hole. Bps like it where they have all sides of their body touching the sides of the hide. you can use a smaller water bowl if youd like but its your call.

what are your EXACT temps and humidity, and what are you measuring them with?

look at this care sheet and make sure you have EVERYTHING correct in the enclosure.

I know that some use newspaper in their racks however you might want to try some aspen or repti bark since you are using a viv. Please be sure to use 2 different temp probes...one for the cool side and one for the hot. Use digital it is much more accurate. Get your hot side in the 90's and cool in the mid 80's. Humidity in the 60's.

As the others stated please get 2 hides that are not too high. They do like feel it all around them. Someone used the bottoms of the planters (you know the saucers that go under them) and get cut holes in them. Make sure you burn the edges as it doesn't cut the snake. This should work for you since your snake is still very small.

Also since the viv is high and the snake is young you might also want to get some fake plants or a limb in there for him as being crowded makes them feel safe.

As for feeding...I am sure it is because your husbandry is not right that the snake is not eating. I feed live and have no feeding problems with my snakes....I actually like it better as it is easier for me. But that is not for everyone. Just be sure if you do try live that you DO NOT put it in the tank and leave. You need to make sure that the snake gets it and it doesn't bite you snake.
