    Rubbed nose?

I mentioned this briefly in a thread on the photo forum, but didn't think it was a problem until now... I got my new BP (adult female) Nerissa last week, and she appears to have rubbed her nose during the trip. I contacted the breeder when she arrived, and he thought it might be shed related - so did a few people here, and when she shed the day after arriving, I figured that was it. But then I was handling her last night, and realized her nose is still pretty raw. Everything was fine when she shipped out, so my guess is that she did it on the snake bag (in the shipping box)... when I first opened it, her nose was tucked really tightly into her tail.

Here are some close-up pictures (luckily she's a great model), and I'm hoping somebody here has advice. I'm not looking to return her or anything, since I'm already completely in love... she's a doll!! But I would like to know if this requires treatment, or if I should give it another shed or two to clear. And what about applying non-painkiller neosporin? Btw, she's otherwise healthy as far as I can tell - no signs of parasites or RI, although she did refuse her first meal offering on Monday.

All the brown/black is natural coloring, it's the pink area I'm worried about:

There's also this little white bump, just above the lip - almost looks like an egg tooth, LOL.

P.S. She did have some stuck shed around the head/chin, which she graciously allowed me to remove (with a wet towel) last night... could she have some still on there?

    Re: Rubbed nose?

Wow she is a total model!! Could it just of been a stuck shed issue? It does look a little raw. Did you ask the breeder if possibly she was bit during her last feeding??

I don't know much of anything...but just thought maybe I could give ideas. Sorry I am not more help.

Where is Dr. Del......he seems to know a TON...

    Re: Rubbed nose?

Thanks! It looks a tad better today, but is still noticeably pink around the nose. I contacted the breeder when she first arrived, and he said her nose was fine (as far as he could remember) before shipping - it did look normal in the photos on his website. So I'm pretty sure it happened on the trip, since I saw this before her shed the following day. Guess she just got stressed on the LONG journey here, or tried to begin peeling while in the snake bag. I'll see if anyone else has ideas, but will probably wait until next shed to assess things... and maybe dab some neosporin in the meantime?

She really is the best snake model... check out these shots too!

    Re: Rubbed nose?

    My ears are burning?

There are loads of people on here who know more than I ever will.

It doesn't look to bad at all though - it may take a shed or two to disappear completely though as the shedding process can sometimes open wounds slightly by pulling of scabs etc.

I probably wouldn't even bother with the neosporin as it should dry up quite quickly as long as she doesn't keep rubbing.

And she does seem to like posing for the camera doesn't she?

    Re: Rubbed nose?

Thanks del, you put my mind at ease... and yes, she is a TOTAL ham! I have loads of pictures already, and most are good ones - unlike with my other snakes, where I get 1 decent shot for every 10 lousy ones. I'll post more of her on the photo forum, before I get accused of hijacking my own thread.

    Re: Rubbed nose?

She looks like she's going into another shed cycle which could account for some pinkness.

Her nose doesn't look bad. I wouldn't worry yet.
