Recessive x recessive breedings
I know that in boas, it is conventional wisdom never to breed albino x albino as it greatly increases the likelihood of propagating deformed (eyeless) babies. (At least, that's been what I've been told by several boa breeders.)
I have heard rumors that there are also recessive ball python mutations that should not be bred to other homozygous recessives, but I have never had this confirmed.
I am wondering in particular (since it's probably more in my price range, ha) if there are any known issues with breeding albino x albino in ball pythons (assuming that the babies are from outcrossed, relatively unrelated lines).
Though, I'm also curious if anyone knows of or has firsthand experience with other inadvisable breeding combinations ...
Thanks!

Re: Recessive x recessive breedings
I have bred Albino to Albino with no problems.
I have also bred Hypo to Hypo with no problems.
I also know Pied x Pied and VPI Axanthic x VPI Axanthic have been done with no problems.

I do know that Ralph Davis has produced Albinos with no eyes.... Not sure why they were deformed as such, but I think it was more likely to developmental issues not genetics.

Re: Recessive x recessive breedings
I wouldn't see that there would be any problems, I think all the deformities from whatever you cross is just the same results. So, you could even breed two normals and get deformities with the offspring, just like you can get deformities by crossing any other morph.

No, it was the product of line breeding his granite albino female.
