Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --

I'll be honest, when it comes to rooting for a fighter, it all comes down to personality.

I like fighters who are sportsmen, friendly, and most of all humble.

I don't even enjoy watching the mean, rude people fight. I don't even like to see them be beat up, that's not the point of this. It's a darn sport, not a chance to legally pound somebody into the ground to release your own frustrations.

That said, I've really enjoyed watching the machida fights. I want to see someone take him on and force him to show off the variety of training he has had throughout his life.

I don't have a favorite fighter, everything is way too overblown by the media and promotion of the UFC for me to really know these guys well enough to have an opinion on a 'favorite'. All I know is that I enjoy watching two guys give each other respect and compete in one of the most difficult sports in the world.

P.S. Chuck Liddell was apparently on Dancing with the Stars. Wish I'd caught that before now.. lol

That's understandable. I do like a bunch of fighters just because of their personality. That's what the sport is all about, being respectful and putting your skills to the test.
I also dislike disrespectful fighters, but in reality they do make people want to watch the fight, it's about selling the fight IMO.
I find some fighters incredibly hilarious like Rampage Jackson, Mayhem Miller, guys that make me laugh and at the same time put on a show I also like.
Guys like Brock Lesnar, kinda erk me a little bit. But he likes playing a "bad guy" role from what I see.

Brock Lesnar knows all about selling the fight for $. It's too bad that sports are all pretty much driven by $. He is one difficult guy to compete against however.

If I had to pick a fighter to see in a show TODAY, it'd probably be Jens Pulver.

And that's why they gave him a title shot so quick =P. But yeah of course an organization would want to make the money, but so far they're putting on great fights for us to see.
I can't wait until he fights Shane Carwin, someone who is about his size/weight, and also a wrestler with excellent hands.

I'm hoping carwin can take lesnar... He's done well and all I just really can't stand the guy. I'll be pulling for machida when he fights shogun. Anderson silva mentioned moving up a weight class a while back, have yall heard that? Silva vs machida would be one hell of a fight...

Fedor was my favorite fighter for a long time but I've lost a little faith in him since he turned down danas offer a while back

Machida would tear him apart. Not for the reasons you might think (younger, bigger), but because Silva's done. He's winding his career down and is ready to stop working so hard all the time. He's got many great fights in him still, but I don't think he has the drive to fight all the time for years to come.

Of course this is all speculation on reading things and limited information presented by the media.

I don't know if Anderson/Machida would be a very exciting fight. They are both defensive fighters. And we have already seen what happens when Anderson fights someone who does not attack. Not very interesting.

So how many of you are disappointed Denis Kang lost to Bisping and feel Vera won that fight?

Bisbing displayed some of the best shrimping and hip control i've ever seen!!! very impressed. dennis kang is a beast for thoose of you who hadn't seen him before last night. pearson was on fire. wilks disapointed me. he demalished demarcus to win the ultimate fighter. i was expecting more "though he did get rocked early". what a knock out by andre winner. lets hear some thoughts on GSP VS Hardy.

I'm not disappointed at all for the kang vs bisping. I was rooting for kang, but bisping deserved the win, won with style, and beat a truly tough opponent. Like merdcme said, kang is a BEAST.

Just because the guy I wanted to win didn't have his day, doesn't mean that I can't recognize that he was beat by someone who really did deserve a win.

GSP vs Hardy? I did not get the feeling from the Hardy fight that either opponent was up for taking on what we've seen from GSP in his last 3 fights. Hardy had better work harder than he has ever in his life to prepare for that. BTW I'm no GSP fan and I certainly don't think he's unbeatable or the best in his weight class, just my personal views on Hardy taking him on.
