    Feeding Question....

Ok so i have 3 Bps.. I just recently moved the 2 larger ones up to small rats (they are 09s btw) Anyway The one male will eat anything you put in front of him, and the other male is still on large adult mice. My issue at hand is the female she will only eat if i put live in her tub. She wont eat pk she wont eat FT. Only live and only in her tub with it shoved back in the rack. Granted i havent tried extremely hard to feed her FT but she wont take PK. I feed my other 2 outside there containers so i can watch for everything (since i feed live) my question is should i leave the female on mice and feed more then one or would it be safe to drop a small rat in her tub live? Ive heard so many horror stories about rats live but im not sure where to go i feel like this is going to pose a problem when she gets older if she only continues to eat Live in her tub alone!
    -Thanks Steven-

Not sure what horror stories you've heard, but I feed all of mine live rats, in their tubs with no problems.

    Re: Feeding Question....

I feed all my snakes like.. I offer with tongs and have never had a problem..in 4 years and thousands of feeding's..

The problem comes in when a feeder is left to long or a freak accident happens.

    Re: Feeding Question....

I feed all my bps live 2 and have never had a problem. Remeber that these animals are built to feed on live prey like this. As far as problems, I've heard of snakes getting nicked on occasion but that's easily treated with a dab of neosporin. For me I just hold the rat up for the snake and wait till it strikes and they'll pretty much take care of the rest on their own. The problems usually come when people leave the rat with the snake unsupervised. If that's the only way it will take it I would try offering with tongs for a few min. and if she doesn't want it then wait and try again in a couple of days. I recently had a similar problem with one of my bps and after about four or five offers he started to take them as soon as I offered and hasn't turned down a meal since. Remember they are fickle creatures when it comes to feeding but they are not gonna starve themselves to death if they're healthy.

Sorry that was so long but I hope it helped...
