Re: In memory of Houdini the corn snake...

sorry to hear, I just lost one of my corns 2 days ago. Same thing she just died for no good reason. She was fine the day before then next day she was all twisted funny mouth open and dead.

I have lost a couple other corns and one baby ball the same way. They just up and died, Its wierd but i think they can have heart attacks and siezures and strokes. The ball I didnt have long, it was a ch so theres a number of things that could have done it in. As for the corns, I am starting to wonder with all the morphs we have and almost all being reccesive could be a factor. People have bred the reccevie traits so much to get these morphs I wonder if some bad genes for bad hearts, brains etc have also become established.

Yeah I did the same thing with my first Corn snake. I always burry my snakes near flowers or a tree, too. I just think it's rude to throw away a snake right into the garbage, too, since it was a beloved pet.

My heart goes out to you, hun. It is so very difficult to lose a loved one, be it family, friends or pets. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you will be able to find a way to cope through this hard time.

Re: In memory of Houdini the corn snake...

I know how hard it is to lose a very close pet. My beloved Chihuahua, Fi-Fi, passed away in February. She was 10 years old. I still miss her so much, even now. You take care and no blaming yourself. I'm sure it wasn't your husbandry, you'd said you'd had your snake for a long time......so it probably was not anything you did. Unfortunately, when they're called back to the Rainbow Bridge, there's little that we can do. Time will help you heal and maybe a new little friend can also help to ease your pain. For some, getting another pet right away is good, but not always. If you feel you need the time, take it.
