Hook training?

Well after only having BPs I now finally own a boa! A beautiful female Florida line suriname BCC! I love her, she is just beyond awesome.

She is tiny now but I was thinking that hook training her when she gets a bit bigger may not be a bad idea.

Anyone have experience or opinions on hook training a BCC?

I have my red tail boa hooked trained. What I do is when i want to take her out of the cage, I tap her lightly on the head then i hook her body over to me and pick her up. I don't pick her up with the hook just slide her to my hand. I think you can hurt the boa if you try to pick them up by it. The hook has worked well for me. It helps her not get mixed up with feeding and play time.

I think any snake can be acclimated to understanding feeding time vs cleaning/handling time, and I think it is a good idea with any snake that gets big enough to leave more than a pinprick when it bites.

I agree I know my boa is always real alert in strike mode. To me as soon as i tap her on the head she relax's and i can grab her.
