    Introducing Scout!

My new corn snake arrived this morning, and he is sooooo cute!! And yes, he definitely looks more like a Scout than a Chester. He made the long trip from MD to CA just fine, despite a terrible storm here & a stupid UPS driver who tried to leave him sideways under the doormat (when it took a minute for me to answer) - in the pouring rain, nonetheless.

Anyway, please welcome Scout, a baby male Aztec Reverse Okeetee. Didn't want to stress him anymore with a photo shoot, so here are just a few quick shots... he was a little skittish coming out of the box, but seems cool with his new habitat so far.

And here's the CLEARLY marked box, which the delivery driver somehow thought was okay to leave sideways in the rain... without a signature.

OMG, he is SO cute! I really adore that patterning, he's going to be a beautiful boy when he grows up. Congrats on a wonderful find, Lolo! I can't believe that UPS guy would be so stupid. Couldn't he read???!!!??? *Shakes head* Some people just don't care, I guess. At least you were right there and the poor little guy didn't have to wait long.

    Thanks, I think he's a cutie too!

And yeah, that UPS guy was beyond stupid... I told the breeder, and he said they tried the same thing (laying it sideways) when he dropped it off. What's the point of writing "THIS SIDE UP" if they simply ignore it? Totally unacceptable, and I do plan to mention it to them.

    Re: Introducing Scout!

Btw, I'm tempted to change his name (although I love Scout) to one of two things... "Stormy" because of the crazy storm he was delivered in, or "Valentine" for the tiny hearts down his tail. Can you see them? If those get bigger and more obvious as he grows, that might be the perfect name! I originally rejected it since my dog's full name is "Rudy Valentino," but my roommate said that was lame since nobody calls him that - he's just Rudy. Whaddya think?

Toooo cute! I think Valentino would be a really cute name for him, especially with those little "hearts".

    Re: Introducing Scout!

Good news - Scout took his first meal offering! I gave him a f/t pinkie mouse last night, and at first he showed no interest... so I left the room, and when I came back later it was gone. Yay! Bummed I didn't catch his first meal (with me) on film, but after dealing with picky Ball Pythons, it's nice to have an easy f/t feeder. How long do they typically eat pinkies before graduating to hoppers? I bought two 3-packs of frozen pinks, which means I have about 6 weeks worth. Anyway, here are a couple more shots of him... a little blurry since he moves so fast, LOL.

Didn't realize how tiny he'd be, so I need a smaller water bowl...
