    Help with my new editions

i just recently bought 2 beautiful pastels off someone who live not too far from me. I bought a baby girl and a 1110g boy. Now call me crazy but the boy seems to drool every one and a while. They are in quarantine. Any one know anything?

i really hope its not RI, the drool is clear, watery like. If it is RI is it contagious?

snakes drool if their dehydrated and drink alot of water at once, i see it more with big snakes tho.

I don't know much about RI, if i suspect it i take away the water and increase the heat a little and it seems to clear things up. hopefully someone else will chim in, but i can answer one question, yes RI is contagious

why would you take away the water? If there is RI shouldn't it be more humid? Also i dont think he has been drinking, but it can be.

Yes, if it's a RI, you need to bump the humidity to help him break up the mucus. And he needs to be seen by a vet so that you can start him on rounds of injectible antibiotics. If it's advanced to drooling, then it's not going to go away without treatment.

No one can diagnose your snake just based on a description, and none of us are vets. But if it was MY snake, I'd be making a vet appointment.

I don't believe that it is airborne, but if you go and change his water, and you "thumb" the water dish (meaning, your thumb gets wet while gripping the edge of the water dish) and then "thumb" hers, you can transmit it through the water.

Completely disinfect between handling animals - QT him away from all your other animals and always work with him AFTER you've worked with your existing group.

i might hold off on that appointment because i had him out for about 20 minuets with no drool, so maby he just drank before i took him out. I put him on aspen, even though i like to keep my new arivals on news paper because aspen holds humidity better. I bumped up the temps, and humidity. What should i keep the humidity at? Better be safe then sorry
