Anything you can do to avoid having your flash hit your animals directly will help. You can bounce it off the ceiling, or use a light diffuser.

Yeah, I don't have much choice in how my flash goes, unfortunately - it's not adjustable.

Nice! Even without the light tent. You'll have to post more pics after he sheds and you get a light tent. Or just some good after shed pics. LOL
