How did you get into breeding balls?

So, after years of wanting a snake (my mother is terrified of them) I finally have my first ball python. He's an amazing guy, and the more I'm learning about ball pythons the more I'm falling in love with these awesome animals.

So, I was curious - those of you who breed, how did you get into it? I wouldn't say I'm in the right place right now to start breeding, but I have to say I'm definitely looking into it. I've never had an animal quite so awesome as my new ball python!

I saw a bumblebee and a pied and that day I decided that being a owner was no longer the only thing I wanted to be, I wanted to breed and experience hatching those amazing morphs.

And since the first hatchling crawling out of his egg the addiction has been even stronger.

I think my partner might object to that start-up method. :-P She loves them as much as I do, though! She's the one that convinced me ball pythons were the snake to go with...and I'm so glad she did!

Re: How did you get into breeding balls?

I saw a pied, was naive and asked how much it was and was shocked at the price at the time - $10K and thought - well, I do enjoy "some assembly required", I'll make my own with hets. From there, I fell in love with more morphs, and like Deb, after the first hatchling comes out of the egg, the addiction gets even stronger!

Re: How did you get into breeding balls?

I myself have always loved breeding snakes, and I've bred colubrids and a slew of other reptiles. My first breeding of BP's I knew of only a hand full of morphs. Mine were Normal X normal, and not because I couldnt afford any morphs because I could. It was just the enjoyment of breeding reptiles. Its like Christmas for me ^_^ if not better! That was my first time breeding pythons and from there on out it was an addiction!
