Coincidence in Shed Timing?

Our BP's eyes were blue last Wednesday, so I expected him to shed on Friday or Saturday. Since we went camping this weekend, I was bummed that I'd miss witnessing the event and fully expected to come home today (Sunday) to a mangled skin.

Made a beeline to Patriot when we got home, held him for a moment, and was surprised to see that he hadn't shed yet. Lo 'n' behold, about 4 hours after we got home, the shedding began! Got to see the whole process.

Surely our presence couldn't have had any effect or made any difference, could it? I just can't get over the coincidence of the timing of the shed. He had all weekend to shed in solitary peace, but instead did so as we were walking back and forth, putting camping stuff away.

Awesome picture!!

I caught one of my girls shedding recently when I was cleaning tubs. I think a good bit of it has to do with they shed when they are moving around. So when you got home and got him out, after he got put back in his cage, he was awake and moving. My girl seemed to have waited until I was watching as well, but I had taken her out to weigh her, and she shed when I put her back in the tub. It seems to be kinda 'well I'm up, I might as well be rid of this old skin!' haha

It's pretty cool to watch though!! ^_^

Hey, you might be onto something. I took him out to weigh him and check the tank, then put him back in. Didn't hold him for more than a couple of minutes, but perhaps that put him into shedding mode.
