2nd clutch hatched: good but disappointing odds

Well this was from a mojave/pastel x mojave clutch. My mojave lost interest for a while, and I tried some of the tricks to get him breeding again. I finally put my pastel in with my mojave girl hoping his scent would kick start him. Well it worked. My mojave started breeding her again, and did for around 6 more weeks.

Well, that one time with the pastel was enough, and he sired (at least part) of the clutch. Out of 5 eggs, 4 hatched. No normals, but no pastaves or BELs. Guess I can't complain about all morphs, but was really hoping for that BEL (or a pastave). Final count: 2.0 pastels and 0.2 mojaves.

(pics only so-so, just snapped them after they came out of the egg onto their way into the tub)

0.1 Mojave - this girl has AMAZING blushing. I don't really need her, but am going to have a hard time letting her go. She came out sort of in mid shed with some pieces of skin peeling off - hopefully she'll shed them off...

    0.1 Mojave -

    1.0 Pastel

    1.0 Pastel

Ever tried wipping the sperm plug from the pastle on the back of the female? Maybe that would have jump started the mojo male back into breeding without actually putting the pastel in. I don't know how well it works but just a trick I have heard. But congrats on the nice healthy clutch and maybe you will have better luck with the BELs and Pastave's this yr!

Yeah, I had thought about that. I just wasn't sure where to get the sperm from? I've never noticed a sperm plug or anything like that.

I figured "meh, its only once, surely the 20 times by the mojave will outweigh it". Guess what they teach in HS sex-ed is true: it only takes once.

Oh no no no, not that at all. A BEL has been one of my three "dream morphs" that I finally had the ingredients to make. I've been wanting one since I saw one. So I was a little bummed about not getting one, but I am still very happy with the clutch!

Thanks! I'm really liking her a lot. I'm afraid I may end up holding her back even though I should be making room...
