the only way I can think of that is 100% waterproof is kiln baked clay with a coating of glaze. You can try looking for a place that has a kiln you can use for a fee and make your own bowls
I'm going to have to ask my art teacher if I can use the wheel and throw some bowls when the ceramics class is done
