    Mouth Swab

Can a vet do a mouth swab to see what type of infection a snake has?

Wouldn't that be considered a culture?

A culture is done to find out what type of bacteria the snake has to be able to treat it with the right medication in order to get rid of the infection.

So, yes, a vet could do that, but it definitely would not be for free like stated in the post above. Not sure how much your vet would charge you, but a culture would be $110 for what my vet charges. So, try to figure it would cost somewhere around there.

Well we treated my bredli's a few months ago for a URI and it seemed to clear up but its peaking its ugly head again and I want to make sure we are using the right meds to treat whatever this is. So I guess a bacteria culture is what we need! Im not to worried about the cost of things, just want these snakes better.

Well getting a culture would be the best thing to do to tell what kind of bacteria your snake has so vet would be able to provide the right medication to do the job.
