Unhappy My ball python will not eat..

I have a new 5 month old ball python, I have had her for about 2 months. She was eatting very good, she is eating frozen fuzzies. THen she had her first shed about a two weeks ago.. and now she will not eat. She had a good shed it came off in one piece... and I know during shed alot of them will not eat, but now she will not eat.. But she is be very active in the cage, climbing around and is constantly moving around. She is acting like she is hungry but when I go to feed her, she has not interest in the mouse.. Where I got her from said she had only been on frozen..and I kind of want her to stay that way.. But I just dont know why she wont eat. Should I try a live fuzzie.. I just dont know what to do.. The temps at 80-85 on cold side and 90 on warm side..

Re: My ball python will not eat..

    Hi,

Can you get us a weight and size comparison picture (just with something common in the picture with her for people to judge her width/ length against) ?

Off the top of my head I would say a fuzzy mouse is probably too small and she would be better with a half grown mouse - but the weight and pic will help know for sure.

The other standard things we ask are where are you measuring those temps and what with?

Also give us a rundown of your setup with pictures if possible - it might let us see something we could suggest an improvement on.

But I think the main info we need is how you prepare and offer the food item to her?

Start from how you defrost to how long you prescent and heat just before offering. Also if you feed in her enclosure or not.

Did you change anything about her enclosure or handling routine? How often do you handle her at the moment?

Did you check her shed to make sure the eyecaps came off ok?

Sorry for all the questions but they really do help find what the problem is and hopefully get her eating again for you.

Even a fuzzy rat is probably not even worth the energy expended to digest it. My four month old pinstripe is on small rats already.

Wow, how much does he/she weigh? My 3 month-old babies are getting 1-2 ADULT mice per week, so I'd agree with you all... the OP's snake could definitely move up to larger prey. And I personally would try live, if you can't get her to eat the next F/T meal - some would hold out longer, but I've always had much better luck with live (all I feed right now). Good luck!
