Boelen price check/info
I live in NY and have recently become infatuated with Boelen's. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase one, and what the average price is in the USA.

I don't want to breed them. I just really want one lol. I really would like names of specific breeders I could buy from, and if they have a website or something.

You wont find a breeder. there are very few numbers in the USA. and the eggs dont seem to hatch here in the USA very well. They think it has something to do with atmospheric pressure. Boelens are from a very high altitude climate. and for some reason 99% of breedings are failures. I think the last one I saw for sale recently was Pro Exotics had an adult male for 4k. not sure if they still have it or not. Im almost possitive that there has been only 1 clutch of eggs that has ever hatched successfully in the states, and unfortunately I cant remember who pulled that off.
I first saw these pythons in person at the san diego zoo. and I was awe struck. Freaking amazingly beautifull animals. I would have one of my own if the price wasnt so high, and the price is so high because the numbers are so limited.

Paul Miles succesfully bred them first, and Jason Baylin and I believe Marc Spataro(spelling?) did a second successful breeding. There is a trick to it, and it can be difficult because these guys are such high altitude animals. To cool these guys, you have to drop the temps so low any other boid would come down with a severe RI.

They are 4,500 to 10,000 USD. I don't think any of the breeders/researchers would be willing to sell them as a pet. I have to be honest, your want kind of offends me. You are willing to pay an insane amount of money on a physical aspect of a reptile. Marc is very into these pythons, and chondros. He has a passion for learning about them that has taken him to their home in Indonesia and back again. It has to do with the rarity of the snake, the inability to breed, and the lack of knowledge about them. Combining that with the habitat that is being destroyed. Some people want to save a species for years to come, and you want a pet. A little selfish isn't it?
Sorry if I offend with my post, but I strongly believe these are not ready for the market and defiantly shouldn't be offered as "pets" in the near future.
