Either of those suggestions work fine but I'd like to add a point about cleanliness. If your driftwood should happen to get pooped/peed on make sure you sanitize it! For wood I prefer to use bleach (I normally avoid the stuff) and water to soak followed by a rinse and pure water soak then leave it outside for a few days to air/sun dry.

I don't use any porous materials in my BP's enclosures just because they all tend to poop/pee on the same days and I like to be able to just take their tubs over to the sink & get them ready to go real fast. My beardie has some wood in his enclosure but he generally poops in the same spot, the snakes don't really seem to care where they go...in fact they seem to like to lay in it -.-
