Glueing Driftwood in Cage

We recently moved our Pastel, Leonard into a RBI 2x3 Cage. We have two big pieces of driftwood in the cage, but he keeps knocking them over. Is there a safe glue or adhesive to use to secure the driftwood to the floor and walls? We would need something that dries relatively fast and doesn't stay sticky, since we don't have another enclosure to keep him in. Any ideas?

Hot glue gun should work quite well I think.

I actually bought some mounting suction cups and used small sheetrock screws to attach them to the wood that we used in our enclosure. I would highly recommend this method because you don't have to worry about vapors or anything sticking to the snake if it warms too much from a heater, etc.

PS make sure that you carefully find your contact points on the wood so that the cups align correctly with the surface of the tank.

Either of those suggestions work fine but I'd like to add a point about cleanliness. If your driftwood should happen to get pooped/peed on make sure you sanitize it! For wood I prefer to use bleach (I normally avoid the stuff) and water to soak followed by a rinse and pure water soak then leave it outside for a few days to air/sun dry.

I don't use any porous materials in my BP's enclosures just because they all tend to poop/pee on the same days and I like to be able to just take their tubs over to the sink & get them ready to go real fast. My beardie has some wood in his enclosure but he generally poops in the same spot, the snakes don't really seem to care where they go...in fact they seem to like to lay in it -.-

I would go with hot glue. It is sturdy enough to handle a ball python but you can easily rip it off and re glue if needed.

Just a suggestion though, unless you have a 3,000g ball python, there is no reason to have an enclosure THAT large for this kind of snake.

Hi,

Depending on the size and shape of the wood you could use those little plastic thigns they use for putting up the rails in wardrobes so you could glue those in place but lift the wood in and out as needed.

You can see them in a lot of GTP tank pictures I think.
