    Incubator making questions

i work for a lab and we have a couple of different style incubators that are old and may be disposed of. some are giant, some are more manageable in size.

there are 2 inparticular that i have my eye one but they are rusty on the inside. is there a certian paint that can be used on the inside of the incubator without effecting the eggs? keep in mind that this will be painted way in advance and allowed to cure and gas off. if its a problem, i have a couple of refrigerator options too.

also is there any special paint for the outside? or can regular, run of the mill, type paints be used?

    Re: Incubator making questions

I would sand the rust down, then use a hard enamel paint. not house paint. something to keep in mind tho is that your incubator is going to be humid by nature, and rust is eventually going to eat through that paint. There are products that protect against this and you should beable to get 4-5 years out of it before you start seeing problems (I would think)

what part of the incubator is rusting? the shelves or the side panels?
