    Ball Pythons becoming scarce?

"They are becoming more and more scarce in the wild, and the fewer Ball Pythons that have to be imported from the wild the better."

I was looking up some info on breeding and breeding tips and came across this on the kingsnake website. Has anyone heard about this? I didn't know they were becoming scarce in the wild.

Never heard anything of it. I hope it's not true, that would be sad.

As far as I know, ball pythons are still thriving in the wild.
Not to mention, if all else fails, a rehabilitation project would not be hard because they are rather easy to breed.

It sounds to me like an assumption....just like my assumption that ball pythons in Africa are doing just fine.

    I really dunno...Who really knows?

Based on the amount being imported and how 'easy' they are to find and take.. I'm guessing there's lots out there.

But we don't know, really. :[

    Re: Ball Pythons becoming scarce?

They are a CITES regulated animal and as such are strictly regulated. They're in no danger of becoming scarce any time soon. What doesn't get imported here for the pet trade, gets exported into Asia for food.
