I$800 for a het female just doesn't sound worth it to me, not if you can get a female pied for $200 more.

It just depends on what his goals are. If its just for a pet, then yeah, I'd probably go ahead and buy the pied rather than a het. If he wants to produce, IMO a breedable het pied female is worth more than a hatchling pied.
