most people fear or dislike snakes because they really dont know much about them..maybe you and your mom can go places where there are ball pythons to learn all you can about them like what they eat ..how often..what type of enclosure do you need..heat and stuff.. also what type of temperment does a ball python have ..how big do they grow..reading a book about them helps too. that way she will see that they really arent so bad and might let you get one of your own. I have 2 ball pythons and like them alot. Most of my friends like them too because they are slow movers and they feel less intimidated by them. well good luck!!
My children wanted ball pythons years ago and before we would allow them to get one they had to go online and do research then they had to write a report on the care, health, husbandary, etc... of them. Then they had some interaction with them at a show and then we allowed them to each get one. They have been raised around burms (many many burms) but they had to show they were responsible enough to get their own snakes before we allowed them to get one. Just show your mom you are serious about getting one and prove you have taken the intiative to do some research on your own.
Trust me, I've gone through the same thing. If she's logical, list the reasons why you should get one. If she's touchy-feely, shed some tears and tell her why you FEEL you should get one. I used both with my mom. Got my own bp 3 4 months ago.
The thing is if you want one real bad now you still will in a few years, and if after being educated on the subject your mom still refuse to have a snake in HER house then you should respect her wishes.
In a few years when you are old enough and on your own you will then be able to have any snake you want and make up for it.
I grew up in a household where reptiles were not allowed and I did just fine and now that I have settled I made up for it with a few critters .
Sometimes you just have to be patient!
