    Whale watching is great, they are probably my favorite critter...too bad I can't keep one in my apartment! Many years ago we were on a whale watch, well, just heading out really, when the captain got a call from a rescue group about an entangled North Atlantic Right whale. He had been spotted but they would not be able to get to him for hours so they asked our captain if he could go verify the situation and keep tabs on the whale. What a day! We found him and spent 6 hours of our 4 hour tour babysitting him. We left shortly after the rescuers arrived but learned on our way back that they had successfully cut the lines and he was free. Truly an amazing experience. They are endangered (almost extinct ) and normally not seen on a regular whale watch. Needless to say, that was the best whale watch out of many that I have been on!
