Are there any female herpers in South Carolina

Every women I met here is affraid of the things I enjoy the most. They say they could understand if I had one but when they find out I got 47 they freak out. Do you single guys have this trouble in other places?

Re: Are there any female herpers in South Carolina

My girlfriend wasn't crazy about them at first but slowly she became adjusted. She understands why I like them so much but she doesn't really share the passion I do. She supports me 100% when it comes to my hobby and what I would like to accomplish with it and for that I can't ask more.

A lot of people think I'm weird and I only have 8 snakes so i can only imagine the response you get.

My fiance likes snakes, so she just puts up with it.

I am a girl, I really enjoy my ball pythons. My boyfriend on the other hand......isn't real keen on them. But, he puts up with me and the snakes, so I commend him for that much lol.

Re: Are there any female herpers in South Carolina

I live just outside of Charleston, and I've been a slave to herping since I was eight years old. --Could never pass up a swamp or a ditch or a marsh in search of the next snake, frog, or turtle. For the record, it IS difficult to find a kindred spirit, male or female, down in the South who shares my love for herps. I met one man who kept ball pythons, and I married him. All of the women I've met down here are terrified of snakes. --Not so much in the Chicago/Milwaukee area where I'm from originally.

However, also for the record, over 60-70% of our customers have been women. So, they're out there. One gal came in with her boyfriend, and she was all over our collection. Her boyfriend wouldn't even go into the vault. It's too bad that Repticon put the Charleston show on hold. That'd be the meeting place.

I have a hard time and I only have 2. Of course the part that freaks them out the most would probably be the Anaconda, or the fact that my little colubrid(rufous beaked snake) always seems to watch me lol. I have had some relationships and they usually end with the girl telling me I need to choose or something of that sort. My mother always told me I made wise choices. You'll find somebody though, just like I will, one day maybe. My mother still has faith in my finding somebody, although I don't think I will.

Re: Are there any female herpers in South Carolina

Most of the women I know aren't reptile fans. Quite a few of the guys I know aren't also. I am the guardian of only two snakes at the moment, my guy wasn't too keen on me getting the first one...but quickly fell in love with Apophis (my Snow morph Corn). When I got Anubis (my Ball Python), he wasn't too sure about him. "He looks like a poisonous snake with that weird head." I had to laugh, but it was only because he was used to the slimline head of the Corn.

Believe it or not, there are women out there who love reptiles, especially snakes. You just gotta find us. Good luck with your lady searching, Roosterman. Just, whatever you do, if you find a woman and she asks you to give up your snakes, tell her to take a hike! I've had three friends get rid of their snakes for "love" and when love bit them in the butt, they had to start their passion for reptiles all over again.

They dont ask me get rid of they just want to know if we can put them outside in the barn or somewhere like that. Im not getting rid of them and they aint going outside. Im sure there is someone that wants a good man with a nice collection right.
