A corn was my first snake. very docile and if a heat emitter goes out, they can tollerate it. In general a very hardy snake. And have a potential to get big. Mines only three and its already 5ft. they only told me it would get three.
I would deffinatly suggest this as a first or second snake. He has snapped at me twice but both were my fault. We movved and we walkied him over in his cage and lets just say it was a bumpy ride. so he was agitated and i stuck my hand in there. so really my fault, and if you hold them a couple times a week should be fine.
I keep my cage at a temp for basking spot at like 88 degrees to 90. (conversion to celcius -32 then divid by 2) Only do this if they have a colder area to go to. my cold side is at about 70 degrees. I have a timer on my basking spot(not needed). It goes on at 8am and then goes off at 5pm. This also gives my cage a varient fron night to day.
For the cage terrain or bottom, i use a relistic forest bark.
I have two hides. one a half log and for the basking spot a rock that is hollow on the inside.
I also have logs that go upwords so he can climb and move around.
This is just my set up, you can just have a simple set up small cage with a news paper bed and one hid on the warm side, and with a heat mat. this is just my set up. I lke to see my snake happy.
good luck
