    Re: snakes vs lizards

I have and love both, but picked snakes because cricket feeding sucks.

Agreed, crickets suck. The only thing I have that eats crickets is a tarantula, and that's 1 cricket per day. Snakes all the way!

    Re: snakes vs lizards

Here I was hoping I wouldn't be the only vote for lizards!

I love my snakes, yes, and they're very beautiful - but in my eyes they can't hold a candle to my Iguana. He's like a big, scaly puppy. He'll come to the door to see you if you walk by his cage, scratch to get out, lean against your hand and just go in total bliss mode if you find the right spot to rub...
Sure, he needs daily maintenance, but the interaction makes it worth it.

In contrast to snakes? The lax schedule is nice, but what do I get out of it other than eye candy and a food bill? An animal that doesn't like being interacted with, and only tolerates it. Isn't to say I don't love having them, too, they're just a different kind of fun.

    Re: snakes vs lizards

    Snakes definitely.

While it's true that you must be a REAL jerk to make a leo bite you, I'm still used to the feeding response of my pythons. With my leo...she'd eat the mealies when I'm already asleep or something. Present my pythons (I have 3 retics and a ball python) with a prekilled rat and you can count to 5 and that rat's a goner!

Not having to "gutload" or "dust" rats is also a HUUUGE plus for me...

1.0 Dwarf Philippine Island Retic (Crixus)
    1.0 Normal Ball Python (Achilles)
1.0 miniature werewolf...lol...he's a cross bet. a Daschund and a Shih Tzu (Koda)

Once you go Retic, you get the best pick!

Seconded! It's so hard to compare the two, because they both have their own perks and down-sides.

I love my geckos but hate the insects.... love the snakes! but the expressions those leos can pull off is to die for.

    I vote both
