    before someone else says it:

    "I think it's a ball python"

He looks like a healthy, handsome normal hatchling

    Re: What is it???

he looks like a very nice normal. Normals come in may different patterns, some have more blushing some are darker, some are lighter, etc.

50 grams? That is hatchling size. Did the keeper tell you he has eaten yet, because there is a high possibility he has not eaten yet given the triangular look to his body and his weight. Don't fret if he hasn't people here can give you advice for getting him to take his first meal.

    Re: What is it???

I saw someone else say "If you have to ask if it's a morph or not, it's probly a normal"

I'm gonna back that up. You've got a normal.

Some normals have white bellies, some have spots on their bellies. Normals come in a wide variety.

yea that is a good quote, but then again i didn't buy this snake from a quality breeder he jus put a group of adult male and female snakes ((normal and morph's)) together let them breed and make clutches. There were alot of customers comin back to him tellin them what they have, there were some pastels, ghosts, axanthic's...etc.

I suppose it's within the realm of possibility that someone got their hands on an old, browned-out pastel and either did not know or did not care that it was a pastel, and then might pass on pastel babies without informing their buyers that such was the case. (HIGHLY unlikely, but not impossible) However, ghosts and axanthics don't happen by accident. And when any of these morphs hatch, it's very obvious that they are not "normal".

I'm afraid when you say you didn't buy from a "quality breeder", your words ring very true. You got a very pretty normal...no doubt about that. But your breeder was either lying, or he had customers as clueless as he was when it came to identifying morphs.

Actually, according to your own words, that's exactly what you did. And while I may be coming across as blunt about it, I hope I'm not coming across as critical. That's not my intent at all. There have certainly been cases where folks bought a "normal" BP and it turned out to be something special. If you feel like you have one of those...then that's great. The only way to know, though, is to breed it and prove it out. In the meantime, if it looks like a normal, and has a normal background (ie: unknown breeding, normal price for purchase, etc)...it's 99.7% certain to be a normal.
