Funny dork newbie story!!
Ok so today is feeding day for Elizabeth....and she is really getting quite excited about it, even a little cranky that it hasn't happened yet. I feed her one frozen adult mouse, once a week. She is 3 months old and growing like a weed! Mind you, usually my husband has the pleasure of doing this but since his new job is getting him home late, I decided to take on the challange. (seeing how they are my snakes).......So I get the mouse out of the freezer...and decided I will put it out on the car in the garage in the sun for quick thawing. (we live in AZ) I watched one of my DVR shows and decide...hmmmm I should go out and flip it. (As if it were a mouse burger on the grill). Low and behold I think I microwaved it out side because apparently it exploded in the bag. It was super yummy looking!!
Now I am defrosting somewhere other than in the sun!! Live and learn I guess....

Try filling a small tupperware container with hot water and putting the mouse inside a ziplock bag and put the ziplock bag in the tupperware and put a lid over it. Let it side for about 30 mins and it would be totally thawed out.

I have found that leaving the mouse in the fridge for a few hours before heating it up makes it go much faster.

I put them in a ziplock bag, and run really hot water from the sink, after about 2 cycles it's usually thawed, quicker if you let it sit out on the counter before submerging it.

Re: Funny dork newbie story!!
i actually just stick the rodent in a container with hot water and then let sit then change it to get it warm ( about 40 mintues later) I then dry the rodents off with a tea towl and feed no problems ( I do have one that only takes live but that ok I got 3 tanks worth of asf for those days.

Re: Funny dork newbie story!!
Thank you for all the great tips! After all of that and thawing out another for her she decided that it was too big and struck and curled up around it a couple of times and then she was like....ummmmm....no thanks. So off to the store I go again to get my spoiled little girl 2 smaller ones that was more to her liking.
I think she is punishing me for getting Henry. You would think she'd have no clue about him, seeing how he is more than 1800 sq ft away in a different room. But ever since he came home on Saturday she has been anti "mommy" and now is all about my husband. She truly is a weird BP....personality galore and loves hanging out of her cage with us.
