I've used AE for years, and it is an amazing program. But don't get sucked into one solid program, make sure you branch out to others to produce what AE doesn't support. Such programs are :Autodesk, Inferno, smoke, flame, and flint.
All of these programs will help you create intense pieces. Enjoy, GL, HF.
