    Question Het Markers

I'm really curious with het markers for some reason.

I was wondering what are the het markers for:

    Albino
    Pied
    Axanthic
    Leucistic
    Caramel

    Pics would help, too :].

    Thanks,
    Tiff

het markers arent reliable. You need paper work which is more reliable and holds its own better when trying to sell. I have normals i hatched out that have the Pied het marker but arent het for pied at all.

    Re: Het Markers

Anyone who throws the "marker" word around and fails to talk parentage... walk away. Recessives are by nature lacking in visual cues in the hets- if markers were consistent it'd be a help. but they are not.

Some are covered in the hunter's guide to morphs if you still would like to know more about them.

    Re: Het Markers

Out of your list, I'm only aware of markers that some breeders use to try to predict which 50% or 66% possible's may go on to prove out. However, some 100% het pieds don't even carry the marker.

I'm also aware of a "look" that some het clowns have as well, and you'd really need to see them in person, because they are more color based, of which, the subtlety can be hard to capture in picutures. And speaking for myself - I can't take good pictures.
